Hammond 1599RFIKBK 220 x 140 mm EMI/RFI Shielded Handheld Enclosure

The 1599RFIKBK is the widest enclosure in the 1599RFI shielded handheld series, at 8.66 x 5.5 x 1.6 in (220 x 140 x 41 mm). It is intended for handheld instruments that need both a large board area and EMI/RFI shielding from the enclosure material.

Box and lid are molded from conductive plastic combining stainless steel fibers with flame retardant ABS, carrying a UL flammability rating of 94V-0. The enclosure is designed to meet IP54, and lap joint construction protects against dust accumulation and splashing water. Phillips M3 - 0.5 x 20 mm nickel plated machine screws thread into tapped integral brass bushings, supporting repeated assembly and disassembly.

The series table gives 220 x 140 x 40 mm, matching the drawing assembly of 220.00 x 140.00 x 40.00 mm. The 1599RFIKBK accepts a PC board up to 131 x 211 mm (board not supplied). Extra assembly screws are 1591MS100, and the recommended cover-screw torque is 42-57 ozf.in (30-40 cN.m).

Safety notes from the series apply: conductive plastic is not an insulator and must be treated like a metal enclosure, and significant current flow will cause it to heat and produce smoke. The material is brittle, acts like phenolic and is not for high impact use. Includes box, lid and 4 cover screws; shrink wrapped; RoHS and REACH compliant.
