Hammond 1599RFIKBKBAT 220 x 140 mm Shielded Handheld Case with Battery Door

The 1599RFIKBKBAT is the battery door model of the largest 1599RFI shielded handheld enclosure, at 220 x 140 x 41 mm (8.66 x 5.5 x 1.6 in). It is suited to battery-powered handheld devices that need a wide housing and EMI/RFI shielding built into the plastic.

The box and lid are molded from a conductive compound of stainless steel fibers and flame retardant ABS, with a UL flammability rating of 94V-0. Lap joint construction protects against dust accumulation and splashing water. The lid is secured by Phillips M3 - 0.5 x 20 mm nickel plated machine screws threaded into tapped integral brass bushings, handy when batteries or boards are serviced often.

The series table lists 220 x 140 x 40 mm, and the drawing shows a 220.00 x 140.00 x 40.00 mm assembly. The battery compartment leaves room for a PC board up to 131 x 140.5 mm (board not supplied). The drawing notes that various battery holder kits are available; extra assembly screws are 1591MS100, with a recommended torque of 42-57 ozf.in (30-40 cN.m).

The 1599RFIKBKBAT must be treated like a metal enclosure because conductive plastic is not an insulator, and significant current flow will cause it to heat and produce smoke. The material is brittle and not for high impact use. Shipped shrink wrapped; RoHS and REACH compliant.
