Hammond 1599RFIEBKBAT 170 x 85 mm Shielded Handheld Case with Battery Door

The 1599RFIEBKBAT is the E-size 1599RFI shielded handheld enclosure with a battery door, measuring 170 x 85 x 34 mm (6.7 x 3.35 x 1.33 in). It is built for portable, battery-powered devices that must be screened from electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference.

Box and lid are molded from a conductive compound of stainless steel fibers and flame retardant ABS, rated UL94 V-0. Lap joint construction protects against dust accumulation and splashing water. The lid is held with Phillips machine screws in tapped integral brass bushings, and the drawing lists M3 - 0.5 x 20 mm nickel plated machine screws with 1591MS100 as the extra assembly screw pack.

The series table gives 170 x 86 x 35 mm, and the drawing shows an assembly of 170.00 x 85.50 x 34.75 mm with an internal divider separating the battery area. The maximum PC board for the 1599RFIEBKBAT is 72 x 129 mm (board not supplied). The drawing notes that various battery holder kits are available. Recommended cover-screw torque is 42-57 ozf.in (30-40 cN.m).

Treat this enclosure like a metal one: the conductive plastic is not an insulator, and significant current flow will cause it to heat and produce smoke. The material is brittle and not intended for high impact use. It ships shrink wrapped and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
