Hammond PJ1086L 10x8x6 In Snap-Latch Hinged Type 4X Fiberglass Box

The PJ1086L is the 6.13 in deep version of the 10.13 x 8.26 in PJ Type 4X polyester junction box, measuring 10.13 x 8.26 x 6.13 in (257 x 210 x 156 mm) with a continuous hinge door and snap latch. The extra depth gives more room for devices and wiring in instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures exposed to hose-down, very wet, hot or highly corrosive conditions.

A continuous stainless steel hinge carries the door, which closes with a stainless steel lockable snap latch located on center; the series describes this draw type fastener as including a provision for padlocking. The PJ1086L drawing shows a closed cell neoprene gasket, described in the series as a captive oil resistant gasket providing a positive seal.

The box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester in gray with enhanced UV inhibitors, and are easily punched, cut or drilled. Four 10-32 threaded brass inserts with plated carbon steel screws accept the optional 14R0907 inner panel, 8.75 x 6.88 in (222 x 175 mm), or a terminal kit. Back panels are shown in 0.100 in aluminum, 0.075 in white steel and galvannealed, and 0.125 in fiberglass.

Four stainless steel mounting feet fasten to rear brass inserts with stainless screws, giving 11.84 in (300.65 mm) overall with 0.34 in (8.74 mm) holes. It is UL 508A and cUL (CSA 22.2 No. 94) listed for Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, complies with IEC 60529 IP66, operates from 130°C to -40°C (266°F to -40°F) and has a 6.78 J (5 ft/lb) impact index. The PJ1086L ships at 6 lbs (2.72 kg) and is REACH and RoHS compliant.
