Hammond EJ644SS 6x4x4 304 Stainless Type 4X Junction Box with Panel

The EJ644SS is a 304 stainless steel Eclipse Junior junction box measuring 6 x 4 x 4 in. Its Type 4X construction suits electrical junction boxes, terminal wiring enclosures, instrument enclosures and electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings where equipment may be hosed down, stay very wet, or where corrosion may be a problem.

With dimensions of 6 in H x 4 in W x 4 in D (152 x 102 x 102 mm), it offers 4.00 in of usable depth according to the drawing, which also shows a 3.25 in door opening width and a 4.16 in door width. A removable, unpainted 14 gauge galvanized inner panel measuring 4.88 x 2.88 in (124 x 73 mm) is included and mounts on tapped studs (10-32 thread per the drawing) using the supplied hardware. 14 gauge welded brackets are provided for mounting.

The body and cover are formed from 16 gauge 304 stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams without knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip on the enclosure and a seamless poured-in place gasket keep flowing liquids and contaminants out. Stainless steel hinges run the full length of the cover for 180° opening, while quarter turn latches formed from 316 stainless steel require a tool to open. A bonding stud on the door, a grounding stud on the enclosure and grounding hardware are provided, and the finish is natural smooth brushed stainless.

The EJ644SS carries UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 ratings (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001), complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and is RoHS and REACH compliant. It ships boxed at 4 lbs (1.81 kg). For high temperature applications a gasket retainer may be required; refer to the factory.
