Hammond EJ643S16 6x4x3 316 Stainless Type 4X Junction Box with Panel

The EJ643S16 is a 6 x 4 x 3 in Eclipse Junior junction box in 316 stainless steel, the smallest size in the series to include a removable inner panel. It is designed for instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures in places where equipment may be hosed down, be very wet, or face corrosion.

The enclosure measures 6 in H x 4 in W x 3 in D (152 x 102 x 76 mm). Its removable 14 gauge galvanized inner panel is 4.88 x 2.88 in (124 x 73 mm), left unpainted, and mounts on tapped studs (10-32 thread per the drawing) with the panel mounting hardware provided. The drawing shows 3.02 in of usable depth, a 3.25 in door opening width and a 4.16 in wide door. 14 gauge welded brackets are provided for mounting the enclosure.

Body and cover are formed from 16 gauge 316 stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip on the enclosure and a seamless poured-in place gasket exclude flowing liquids and contaminants. The continuously hinged cover opens 180° on stainless steel hinges and closes with quarter turn latches formed from 316 stainless steel; the slot requires a tool to open. A bonding stud on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure come with grounding hardware. The finish is natural stainless steel, smooth brushed.

The EJ643S16 is UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 rated (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001), complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and is RoHS and REACH compliant. It ships boxed at 4 lbs (1.81 kg). For high temperature applications a gasket retainer may be required; refer to the factory.
