Hammond EJ444SS 4x4x4 304 Stainless Quarter-Turn Type 4X Junction Box

The EJ444SS is a 4 x 4 x 4 in Type 4X junction box from the Eclipse Junior series, made in 304 stainless steel. It suits electricians and panel builders who need a small, sealed enclosure for electrical junctions, terminal wiring, instruments, or electric, hydraulic and pneumatic controls in places that may be hosed down, very wet, or where corrosion may be a problem.

The box measures 4 in H x 4 in W x 4 in D (102 x 102 x 102 mm) and, being a 4 x 4 in size, has no inner panel (the series table lists N/A). The drawing shows a 3.25 in door opening width and a 4.16 in door. It mounts via 14 gauge welded brackets, and ships in a box at 3 lbs (1.36 kg).

The body and cover are formed from 16 gauge 304 stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams without knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip on the enclosure and a seamless poured-in place gasket keep flowing liquids and contaminants out. The cover is continuously hinged on stainless steel hinges for a 180° opening and closes with quarter turn latches formed from 316 stainless steel, whose slot needs a tool to open. Grounding hardware is supplied, with a bonding stud on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure. The finish is natural stainless steel, smooth brushed.

Approvals for the EJ444SS are UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001); it complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66 and is RoHS and REACH compliant. A gasket retainer may be required for high temperature applications; refer to the factory.
