Hammond EJ443S16 4x4x3 316 Stainless Quarter-Turn Type 4X Junction Box

The EJ443S16 is the smallest 316 stainless steel size in the Eclipse Junior series: a 4 x 4 x 3 in Type 4X junction box with a continuously hinged cover and quarter turn latches. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, an electrical junction box or a terminal wiring enclosure where equipment may be hosed down, be very wet, or where corrosion may be a problem.

The enclosure measures 4 in H x 4 in W x 3 in D (102 x 102 x 76 mm). This 4 x 4 in size is supplied less panel; the series table lists the inner panel as N/A. The drawing shows a 3.25 in door opening width and a 4.16 in wide door. Mounting is by 14 gauge welded brackets.

Body and cover are formed from 16 gauge 316 stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip on the enclosure excludes flowing liquids and contaminants, and a seamless poured-in place gasket seals the cover. The cover hangs on stainless steel hinges and opens 180°; its latches, formed from 316 stainless steel, use a quarter turn slot that requires a tool to open. A bonding stud on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure are provided, along with grounding hardware. The finish is natural stainless steel with a smooth brushed surface.

The EJ443S16 is UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 rated and complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66. It is RoHS and REACH compliant (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001) and ships boxed at 3 lbs (1.36 kg). For high temperature applications, a gasket retainer may be required; refer to the factory.
