Hammond EJ644S16 6x4x4 316 Stainless Type 4X Junction Box with Panel

The EJ644S16 takes the 6 x 4 in Eclipse Junior footprint to a 4 in depth in 316 stainless steel, giving extra room for terminals and devices. This Type 4X enclosure is designed for instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, electrical junction boxes or terminal wiring enclosures that may be hosed down, very wet, or where corrosion may be a problem.

The box is 6 in H x 4 in W x 4 in D (152 x 102 x 102 mm), and the drawing shows 4.00 in of usable depth, a 3.25 in door opening width and a 4.16 in door width. It includes a removable 14 gauge galvanized inner panel of 4.88 x 2.88 in (124 x 73 mm), unpainted, which mounts on tapped studs with a 10-32 thread per the drawing. Mounting is via 14 gauge welded brackets.

Body and cover are formed from 16 gauge 316 stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams free of knockouts, cutouts or holes, in a smooth brushed natural finish. A formed lip on the enclosure and a seamless poured-in place gasket exclude flowing liquids and contaminants. The cover is continuously hinged on stainless steel hinges with 180° opening, and the 316 stainless quarter turn latches use a slot that requires a tool. Grounding and panel mounting hardware is provided, along with a bonding stud on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure.

The EJ644S16 is UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 rated (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001), complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and RoHS and REACH compliant. It ships boxed at 4 lbs (1.81 kg). A gasket retainer may be required for high temperature applications; refer to the factory.
