The 1650WA is the 280 watt (RMS) model of the 1608A-1650A family, built for large push-pull parallel tube amplifiers running 6 or 8 output tubes. Its 1,900 ohm centre-tapped primary is rated at 806 mA DC per side, with an easy-wire secondary tapped for 4, 8 and 16 ohms.
Suggested tube types are 6L6GC, 5881, EL34, 6550B and KT88. The 40% screen taps allow Ultra-Linear operation if desired; typical applications include triode, Ultra-Linear pentode, pentode and tetrode connected push-pull audio output.
Rated response is 30 Hz to 30 kHz at full rated power, +/- 1 dB max. (ref. 1 kHz). Typical 60 Hz drawing values: 15.65 ohms (Blue-Red) and 17.19 ohms (Red-Brown) primary DCR, 156 H primary inductance with 76 kOhm impedance (Brown-Red) and 3.66 mH leakage inductance. Secondary DCR is 0.135, 0.176 and 0.203 ohm. Dielectric strength is listed as 3535 VDC; temperature range -40 to 105 C.
