The 1599KGY is the light gray, flame retardant model in the 1599K handheld enclosure size. It is designed for instrument makers and OEMs who want a wide, ergonomic handheld case that meets UL94 V-0 while presenting a lighter finish than the black 1599KBK.
Box and lid are molded from flame retardant ABS carrying a UL flammability rating of 94 V-0. The lid is fastened with M3 - 0.5 x 12 mm machine screws into integral brass bushings. Lap joint construction guards against dust and splashing water, and this non-battery-door version is rated IP54. A lower-cost general purpose alternative in the same size and colour is 1599KSGY.
Nominal dimensions are 8.66 x 5.5 x 1.6 in (220 x 140 x 41 mm), with 40 mm depth in the series table. The drawing gives inside dimensions of 213.58 x 133.58 mm and 33.00 mm inside height. The 1599KGY holds a PC board up to 131 x 211 mm on standoffs on the inside top and bottom, which accept #4 self-tapping screws (board not supplied).
The recessed top takes a membrane display or key pad, and two keyhole knockouts inside the base simplify wall mounting. Each assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws, with a recommended torque of 42-57 ozf.in (30-40 cN.m). It ships shrink wrapped and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
