The 1599KBK is the black, flame retardant version of the widest 1599 handheld enclosure, the 1599K. It is built for OEMs and instrument designers who need a comfortable handheld case with a larger footprint for a display or keypad and a material rated UL94 V-0.
Box and lid are molded from flame retardant ABS with a UL flammability rating of 94 V-0, and the lid is fastened with M3 - 0.5 x 12 mm machine screws into integral brass bushings, so the enclosure can be opened and closed repeatedly. Lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water, and as a version without a battery door it is rated IP54.
The nominal size is 8.66 x 5.5 x 1.6 in (220 x 140 x 41 mm), with 220 x 140 x 40 mm listed in the series table and drawing. Inside, the 1599KBK measures 213.58 mm long, 133.58 mm wide and 33.00 mm high. PC board standoffs on the inside top and bottom accept #4 self-tapping screws, and the maximum board is 131 x 211 mm (board not supplied).
The recessed top accepts a membrane display or key pad, and two keyhole knockouts inside the base allow wall mounting. The assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws, with a recommended torque of 42-57 ozf.in (30-40 cN.m). It ships shrink wrapped and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
