Hammond 1599HSGY 220 x 110 mm Grey Handheld Enclosure, General Purpose

The 1599HSGY is the general purpose, light gray version of the 1599H handheld instrument enclosure. It is aimed at OEM engineers and product designers who need an ergonomic, handheld housing for a keypad or display-driven device and do not require a flame retardant material. Its flame retardant counterpart in the same size and colour is 1599HGY.

Box and lid are molded from general purpose ABS plastic with a UL94 HB flame rating, and the lid is assembled with self-tapping screws into plastic posts. Lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water, and this version without a battery door carries an IP54 rating. The top is recessed to take a membrane display or key pad, while the extra deep top and ultra shallow base give flexibility during assembly.

The nominal size is 8.66 x 4.33 x 1.73 in (220 x 110 x 44 mm); the series table lists a 45 mm depth, and the drawing shows inside dimensions of 213.68 x 103.68 mm with 38.25 mm inside height. PC board standoffs on the inside top and bottom accept #4 self-tapping screws, and the drawing gives a maximum board of 96.5 x 212.5 mm (board not supplied).

Each 1599HSGY ships shrink wrapped as a box, lid and 4 cover screws, with a recommended cover-screw torque of 42-57 ozf.in (30-40 cN.m). Two keyhole knockouts molded inside the base allow wall mounting, and the optional 1599CLIP or 1599CLIPGY belt clip and 1599HD-BULK battery divider fit this size. It is RoHS and REACH compliant.
