The 1598RDBK is the widest mid-length case in the 1598R shielded line - 205 mm across in the ordering table - built for desktop instruments whose boards are broader than they are deep. Like every 1598R model, both halves are coated inside with an RFI/EMI copper conductive layer, specified by the coating maker at more than 75 dB attenuation from 1 MHz to 1 GHz.
Ordering-table dimensions are 180 mm long, 205 mm wide and 63 mm deep; the drawing shows 179.75 x 205.10 x 63.20 mm overall, and the part page a nominal 180 x 206 x 64 mm. The inner box measures 167.30 x 195.31 x 59.00 mm. Boards up to 191.48 x 166.30 mm mount on eight 3.51 mm bosses, and the molded 1.5 mm guides also allow vertical cards.
The case is molded in flame retardant ABS (UL94 V-0), designed to meet IP54, and comes in matte textured black. Its brushed aluminum 5052-H32 front and rear panels offer a 193.60 x 55.15 mm viewing area for displays, meters and connectors. Machine screws into brass bushings hold the halves together for repeated opening.
The 1598RDBK kit contains top and bottom covers, front and end aluminum panels, 2 cover screws and 4 rubber feet. The matching extra panel pair is 1598PLD-AL and the matching tilt bail kit is 1598TH2.
