The 1590C is a general purpose diecast aluminum electronic instrument enclosure measuring a nominal 119 x 94 x 56 mm (4.7 x 3.7 x 2.22 in). It has no mounting flanges and an unpainted natural finish, making it a clean starting point for electronics designers, hobbyists and OEMs who plan to drill, mill or paint the box for their own project.
Box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy, tough yet easy to machine. The natural version is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. A lap joint where lid and box meet protects against dust and splashing water, and the standard version is designed to meet IP54.

The 1590C ships with its box, lid and four 6-32 UNC cover screws in factory-tapped holes. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m (71-78 ozf.in), dropping to 25-30 cN.m (36-43 ozf.in) with a gasket. The series table lists 1590BBGASKET as the replacement gasket kit for an IP65 upgrade, and 1590WC as the factory water-tight version. It weighs 0.61 lbs (0.28 kg) shipped and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
