Hammond 1550Z104 64 x 58 mm Thick-Wall Watertight Diecast Enclosure

The 1550Z104 is a near-square 64 mm x 58 mm thick-wall watertight diecast aluminum enclosure in the 1550Z Series, supplied in natural finish. It is well suited to compact sensor, switch and interface electronics that need a sealed, impact-resistant metal box, and it is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073.

Box and lid are made of diecast aluminum alloy that is tough yet easy to machine; the unpainted finish is vibra finished for smoothness with no sharp edges. Four stainless steel Philips head cover screws (M4 - 0.7 x 20mm) are placed outside the pre-formed one-piece silicone gasket, so no o-rings are needed. The gasket installs into the lid groove and is rated -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to 302°F). Recommended cover screw torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m).

Hammond lists the size as 2.54 in x 2.3 in x 1.39 in (65 mm x 58 mm x 35 mm); the series table gives 2.52 x 2.28 x 1.38 in (64 x 58 x 35 mm) with a 0.20 in (5 mm) lid height. The drawing shows an inside length of 57.05 mm [2.25 in], inside width of 50.85 mm [2.00 in] and inside depth of 27.89 mm [1.10 in]. The listed maximum PC board is 38.61 mm x 43.31 mm. The interior has no ribs, blind thru-box holes outside the gasket ring allow wall mounting, and the box accepts a #6 self-tapping ground screw.

Ratings are IP68, NEMA 4, 4X, 12 & 13, and IK08 per IEC62262; the series was independently tested to IP66, IP67 and IP68, and customers should test for their own application. The 1550Z104 is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap and weighs 0.29 lbs (0.13 kg).
