Hammond 1550Z103BK 98 x 64 mm Black Thick-Wall Watertight Diecast Box

The 1550Z103BK is the textured black version of the 98 mm x 64 mm 1550Z103, a thick-wall watertight diecast aluminum enclosure listed at 98 mm x 65 mm x 34 mm. It is a strong fit for integrators who want a finished black housing for small controllers or sensor electronics in outdoor, washdown or dusty areas, and it is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073.

Tough polyester powder coat is applied outside and inside the enclosure, lasting even after machining. The diecast aluminum alloy lid closes with four stainless steel Philips head cover screws (M4 - 0.7 x 20mm) that sit outside the gasket protection area, so o-rings are not needed. The pre-formed one-piece silicone gasket installs into the lid groove and is rated -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to 302°F). Recommended torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m).

Listed size is 3.87 in x 2.54 in x 1.35 in (98 mm x 65 mm x 34 mm), and the series table shows a 0.35 in (9 mm) lid height. Inside dimensions from the drawing are 91.25 mm [3.59 in] long, 57.24 mm [2.25 in] wide and 28.60 mm [1.13 in] deep, with a maximum PC board of 56.09 mm x 90.09 mm. No internal ribs get in the way of connectors; blind thru-box holes outside the gasket ring make wall mounting straightforward, and a #6 self-tapping ground screw can be fitted.

The 1550Z103BK is rated IP68, NEMA 4, 4X, 12 & 13 and IK08 per IEC62262, backed by independent series testing to IP66, IP67 and IP68; customers should verify suitability with their own testing. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, shrink wrapped, and ships at 0.45 lbs (0.20 kg).
