Hammond 1441-40BK3 17x14x4 in Satin Black Steel Chassis

The 1441-40BK3 is the satin black edition of the 17 x 14 x 4 in (432 x 356 x 102 mm) steel chassis in the 1441 Series. Its large footprint and 4 in height, combined with a dark powder painted finish, suit tube, vintage-style and other electronic builds that need plenty of room above and below the deck.

The chassis is spot welded from 18 gauge steel, which the drawing gives as 0.048 in (1.22 mm) thick. Internal space on the drawing measures 429.36 mm [16.90 in] long, 353.16 mm [13.90 in] wide and 99.16 mm [3.90 in] high. The chassis is 101.60 mm [4.00 in] tall and 102.51 mm [4.04 in] with a bottom plate in place.

The 1431-38BK3 satin black bottom panel is listed as the matching closure, with the gray 1431-38 as an alternative. Bottom plates are 0.036 in steel, punched with four 3/16 in diameter holes, and install through the 1/8 in holes provided in the chassis. Use 1421J6BK black or 1421J6 natural finish 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping screws, sold in packages of 6. The ordering table lists no perforated cover for this footprint, and hardware and rubber feet are sold separately.

Factory modification (milling, drilling, printing) is available, and STEP or IGES solid models can be used for front panel and deck layout. The 1441-40BK3 is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped and has a shipping weight of 7.08 lbs (3.21 kg).
