Hammond 1441-40 17x14x4 in Gray Steel Chassis, 18 Gauge

The 1441-40 is a 17 x 14 x 4 in (432 x 356 x 102 mm) steel chassis from the 1441 Series in ASA 61 smooth grey powder paint. It is the middle height of the three 17 x 14 in models, adding a full inch over the 1441-38 for tube, vintage-style and other electronic projects that need both a large deck and more room underneath.

The chassis is spot welded from 18 gauge steel. The drawing specifies 0.048 in (1.22 mm) steel for the chassis and 0.036 in steel for the bottom plate. Inside, it provides 429.36 mm [16.90 in] of length, 353.16 mm [13.90 in] of width and 99.16 mm [3.90 in] of height. The chassis is 101.60 mm [4.00 in] tall, and 102.51 mm [4.04 in] with a bottom plate fitted.

Bottom closure uses the 1431-38 gray or 1431-38BK3 satin black bottom panel listed in the ordering table. The plates are punched with four 3/16 in diameter holes and mount through the 1/8 in holes provided in the chassis, fastened with 1421J6 natural finish or 1421J6BK black 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping screws (6 per package). No perforated chassis cover is listed for this size. Hardware, rubber feet and all other components are sold separately.

The 1441-40 can be factory modified by milling, drilling or printing, and STEP or IGES solid models are available. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped and has a shipping weight of 7.08 lbs (3.21 kg). Satin black is available as 1441-40BK3.
