The 1436D is the tallest of the slim 3.25 in wide enclosures in the Standard Depth (1436) range of the 1436/1438 Series. This Type 12 mild steel junction box is designed for instrument enclosures, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures, offering a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.
The enclosure is 10.25 in H x 3.25 in W x 2.75 in D (260 x 83 x 70 mm), formed from 16 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams free of knockouts, cutouts or holes. Welded mounting brackets extend overall height to 11.25 in and provide Ø0.25 in mounting holes spaced 10.75 in vertically and 2.38 in horizontally. With the cover fitted, overall depth is 2.91 in.
The cover on the 1436D is not hinged. It measures 10.62 x 3.62 in and lifts off once its captive, plated steel screws are released from their threaded, sealed wells; a permanently secured oil resistant gasket seals the joint. The door opening is 8.88 in high and 2.75 in wide, a long, narrow space suited to rows of terminals. A bonding stud on the cover and grounding stud on the enclosure are provided.
The 1436D is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54. Both cover and body are phosphatized and finished in recoatable ANSI 61 gray powder coating. It ships boxed at 3.76 lbs (1.71 kg).
