The 1436C is an 8.00 in tall, 3.25 in wide Type 12 mild steel junction box in the Standard Depth (1436) group of the 1436/1438 Series. The slim profile works for instrument enclosures, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures that call for a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.
Measuring 8.00 in H x 3.25 in W x 2.75 in D (203 x 83 x 70 mm), the box is formed from 16 gauge steel and has smooth, continuously welded seams without knockouts, cutouts or holes. Welded mounting brackets give an overall height of 9.00 in, with Ø0.25 in mounting holes on 8.50 in vertical and 2.38 in horizontal centres. Overall depth with the cover in place is 2.91 in.
The 1436C is one of the not-hinged sizes. Its lift-off cover, 8.37 x 3.62 in, is fastened by captive, plated steel screws that seat in threaded, sealed wells against a permanently secured oil resistant gasket. The door opening measures 6.63 in high by 2.75 in wide, giving room to land terminal strips down the length of the box. A bonding stud on the cover and a grounding stud on the enclosure are included.
Ratings: UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54. The phosphatized cover and body are finished in recoatable ANSI 61 gray powder coating. Shipping weight is 3 lbs (1.36 kg), boxed.
