The 1436F is a 7.25 x 6.25 in Type 12 mild steel junction box from the Standard Depth (1436) side of the 1436/1438 Series, and the smallest 1436 size with a cover supported on internal hinges. It is designed for instrument enclosures, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures that need a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.
Dimensions are 7.25 in H x 6.25 in W x 3.00 in D (184 x 159 x 76 mm). The 16 gauge steel body has smooth, continuously welded seams without knockouts, cutouts or holes. Welded mounting brackets bring the overall height to 8.25 in and carry Ø0.25 in holes on 7.75 in vertical and 5.38 in horizontal centres; overall depth with the cover is 3.16 in.
The 7.62 x 6.62 in lift-off cover rides on internal hinges and is held closed by captive, plated steel screws that fasten into threaded, sealed wells, compressing a permanently secured oil resistant gasket. The door opening measures 6.75 in high by 5.75 in wide. A bonding stud is fitted to the cover and a grounding stud to the enclosure.
The 1436F is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in ANSI 61 gray recoatable powder coating. Shipping weight is 5 lbs (2.27 kg), packed in a box.
