The 1436B is a narrow Type 12 mild steel junction box from the Standard Depth (1436) range of the 1436/1438 Series. Its tall, slim 3.25 in wide body suits instrument enclosures, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures that need a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.
Enclosure dimensions are 5.75 in H x 3.25 in W x 2.75 in D (146 x 83 x 70 mm). It is formed from 16 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. The welded mounting brackets bring overall height to 6.75 in and carry Ø0.25 in mounting holes spaced 6.25 in vertically and 2.38 in horizontally. Overall depth including the cover is 2.91 in.
Like the other 3.25 in wide 1436 sizes, the 1436B cover is not hinged: it lifts off and is secured by captive, plated steel screws that thread into sealed wells, compressing a permanently secured oil resistant gasket. The cover is 6.12 x 3.62 in, and the door opening is 4.38 in high by 2.75 in wide. A bonding stud on the cover and a grounding stud on the enclosure are provided.
The 1436B is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and powder coated in recoatable ANSI 61 gray. Shipping weight is 2.13 lbs (0.97 kg) in a box.
