Hammond SHG14001 30W PTC Enclosure Heater, DIN Rail Mount

The SHG14001 is a 30 W enclosure heater from the SHG Series, built for panel builders, OEM engineers and maintenance teams who need to keep enclosed electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical equipment protected from low temperatures, condensation and corrosion. It is one of the short-bodied members of the series, with an ordering-table length of 2.60 in (66 mm), so it suits compact cabinets where DIN rail space is tight.

Heat comes from a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) resistor with a self-regulating surface temperature, housed in an anodized extruded aluminum heating body. The PTC design maintains a stable temperature environment inside the enclosure so critical components can perform with consistent reliability for longer periods.

Electrically, the SHG14001 runs on AC 110-250 V and is rated 30 W at a 68°F (20°C) ambient temperature, with a maximum inrush current of 1.2 A. Wiring uses push-type terminals that accept stranded and solid wire from AWG 20 to AWG 16 (0.5-1.5 mm²). The heater is intended to be switched by a Normally Closed thermostat or humidistat.

Installation is a clip-on job: the included clip snaps the heater onto a 35 mm DIN rail. The drawing shows a 2.000 in (50.8 mm) by 2.800 in (71.1 mm) profile and a 2.560 in (65 mm) body length. The unit is Protection Class I (test voltage 1600 V), IP20, and carries UL Recognized Component, cUL Recognized Component and CE approvals. It is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships at 1 lb (0.45 kg).
