Hammond MB105040 100x50x40mm Solid-Lid Polystyrene Enclosure

The MB105040 is a 100 x 50 mm footprint MB Series enclosure with a 40 mm depth and a solid lid. It is built as a rugged electronic instrument housing for printed circuit boards in hand-held, desktop or wall mount applications, giving designers extra height over the 25 mm version of the same footprint.

The box is molded in polystyrene. Its lid is smooth light gray (RAL 7035) and the bottom is smooth dark gray (RAL 7012), and the front and rear panels are molded as part of the bottom unit. The lid is fastened with four cover screws, called out on the drawing as M3-0.5 x 14mm, which thread into integrated brass inserts and are hidden in a recess in the base.

Outside dimensions are 3.94 x 1.97 x 1.57 in (100 x 50 x 40 mm), with an internal space of 94 x 44 x 33 mm. The solid lid provides an IP40 rating; the enclosure is rated UL94 HB for flammability.

The MB105040 is supplied in a box with the enclosure, lid, four cover screws and four P.C. board screws. Recommended cover screw torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m). It is RoHS and REACH compliant, has a shipping weight of 0.16 lbs (0.07 kg), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES for layout work.
