Hammond HYW16168SS 16x16x8 In Hygienic Type 4X Stainless Wallmount

The HYW16168SS is the smallest enclosure in the HYW Series of Hygienic Type 4X Stainless Steel Wallmount Enclosures, a 16 x 16 x 8 in square cabinet for electrical and electronic equipment in harsh, hygienic environments. OEM machine builders and plant engineers use it for wallmount control and junction duty in areas that are cleaned with hoses.

It is formed from smooth 304 stainless steel with continuously welded seams ground smooth, and both cover and enclosure carry a natural stainless, smooth #4 dairy finish. The top is sloped 25°, which keeps water from resting on it and offers potential for controls mounting. Hygienic door latches are 316 stainless steel quarter turns that need a tool to open, door stiffeners are added where required for strength and rigidity, and an internal alignment guide limits door sag.

Interior hinges give a 105 degree opening and can be removed for reverse door swing or on-site modifications. The hygienic blue silicone gasket mounts around the entire door edge and can be removed and re-installed for cleaning or replacement (HYG1616). Collar studs are provided for the optional 18P1313 inner panel (13.00 in x 13.00 in, not included), and a hardware kit with panel mounting nuts comes with the enclosure.

The enclosure is 16.00 in (406 mm) high at H1, 16.00 in (406 mm) wide and 8.00 in (203 mm) deep. Its drawing shows a 19.03 in overall height including the sloped top, 8.86 in overall depth, a 13.25 in x 13.54 in door opening and 9.88 in x 10.17 in of clear space on the door. No wall mounting holes are pre-drilled, so it can be welded in place or mounted on stand-offs, and a bonding stud on the door plus a grounding stud in the enclosure are provided. The HYW16168SS is rated UL 508A and cUL Type 3R, 4, 4X and 12, meets NSF/ANSI 169, complies with IP 66, IP69 and IP69K, and has a shipping weight of 33 lbs (14.97 kg).
