The HYJ854SS is the smallest enclosure in the HYJ Series of Hygienic Type 4X Stainless Steel Junction Boxes. It is designed to enclose electrical and electronic equipment and protect it in harsh, hygienic environments, and suits junction box and wallmount applications where equipment is cleaned with hoses and aggressive cleaning agents.
The box is formed from 304 stainless steel with continuously welded seams ground smooth, and both cover and enclosure have a natural stainless, smooth #4 dairy finish. All four sides slope 3°, so water will not rest on top whichever way the box is oriented. The hex head screw cover can be removed completely for modifications, and a silicone gasket mounts around the entire door edge, where it can be removed and re-installed for cleaning or replacement (replacement gasket HYG85).
The enclosure measures 7.94 in (202 mm) high, 4.88 in (124 mm) wide and 4.00 in (102 mm) deep, with a nominal size of 8 x 5 x 4 in. The drawing shows a 7.12 in x 4.19 in door, a 6.00 in x 3.10 in opening, 3.43 in of usable depth and a 5.37 in x 2.31 in clear space on the door. Studs are provided for the optional 14R0503 inner panel (4.88 in x 2.88 in, not included), and a hardware kit with panel mounting nuts is supplied.
There are no pre-drilled wall mounting holes, leaving you free to weld the box in place or use stand-offs. A bonding stud is provided on the door and a grounding stud is installed in the enclosure. The HYJ854SS carries UL 508A and cUL Type 3R, 12, 4, 4X listings, NSF/ANSI 169, and IP69 and IP69K protection under IEC 60529. It ships boxed at 8 lbs (3.63 kg).
