Hammond EJ863S16 8x6x3.5 316 Stainless Type 4X Junction Box with Panel

The EJ863S16 is an 8 x 6 x 3.5 in Eclipse Junior enclosure in 316 stainless steel, offering a taller mounting surface in a slim depth. As a Type 4X junction box it is designed for instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, electrical junction boxes or terminal wiring enclosures that may be hosed down, very wet, or exposed to corrosion.

Dimensions are 8 in H x 6 in W x 3.5 in D (203 x 152 x 89 mm). The included removable 14 gauge galvanized inner panel is 6.75 x 4.88 in (171 x 124 mm), unpainted, and mounts on tapped studs (10-32 thread per the drawing) with panel mounting hardware provided. The drawing lists 3.52 in of usable depth, a 5.25 in door opening width and a 6.16 in door width. 14 gauge welded brackets are provided for enclosure mounting.

Body and cover are formed from 16 gauge 316 stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. A formed lip on the enclosure and a seamless poured-in place gasket exclude flowing liquids and contaminants. The continuously hinged cover opens a full 180° on stainless steel hinges and is secured by 316 stainless quarter turn latches whose slot requires a tool. Bonding and grounding studs on the door and enclosure are supplied with grounding hardware, and the finish is natural brushed stainless steel.

The EJ863S16 is UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 rated (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001), complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and RoHS and REACH compliant. It ships boxed at 5.25 lbs (2.38 kg). For high temperature applications a gasket retainer may be required; refer to the factory.
