Hammond EJ866S16 8x6x6 316 Stainless Type 4X Junction Box with Panel

The EJ866S16 is the deepest of the 8 x 6 in Eclipse Junior sizes, giving 6 in of depth in 316 stainless steel for bulkier terminals and devices. This Type 4X enclosure is designed for instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures where equipment may be hosed down, very wet, or where corrosion may be a problem.

It measures 8 in H x 6 in W x 6 in D (203 x 152 x 152 mm), with 5.97 in of usable depth shown on the drawing along with a 5.25 in door opening width and a 6.16 in door width. The removable 14 gauge galvanized inner panel is 6.75 x 4.88 in (171 x 124 mm), unpainted, and mounts on tapped studs (10-32 thread per the drawing) with the panel mounting hardware provided. The enclosure mounts using 14 gauge welded brackets.

Body and cover are formed from 16 gauge 316 stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes, finished in natural smooth brushed stainless. A formed lip and seamless poured-in place gasket keep out flowing liquids and contaminants. The cover is continuously hinged on stainless steel hinges and opens 180°, closing with 316 stainless quarter turn latches that require a tool for opening. A bonding stud on the door, a grounding stud on the enclosure and grounding hardware are provided.

The EJ866S16 is UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 rated (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001), complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and RoHS and REACH compliant. It ships boxed at 8 lbs (3.63 kg). For high temperature applications a gasket retainer may be required; refer to the factory.
