Hammond EJ863SS 8x6x3.5 304 Stainless Type 4X Junction Box with Panel

For junction and control work in wet or corrosive areas, the EJ863SS provides an 8 x 6 x 3.5 in Type 4X Eclipse Junior enclosure in 304 stainless steel. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, electrical junction box or terminal wiring enclosure where equipment may be hosed down or be very wet.

The enclosure measures 8 in H x 6 in W x 3.5 in D (203 x 152 x 89 mm). It comes with a removable, unpainted 14 gauge galvanized inner panel of 6.75 x 4.88 in (171 x 124 mm), mounted on tapped studs with a 10-32 thread per the drawing. The drawing also gives 3.52 in of usable depth, a 5.25 in door opening width and a 6.16 in door width. Mounting uses the 14 gauge welded brackets.

Construction is 16 gauge 304 stainless steel for body and cover, joined with smooth, continuously welded seams and supplied without knockouts, cutouts or holes. The enclosure's formed lip and seamless poured-in place gasket exclude flowing liquids and contaminants. Stainless steel hinges carry the continuously hinged cover through 180°, and quarter turn latches formed from 316 stainless steel add safety by requiring a tool for opening. Grounding and panel mounting hardware are provided, with a bonding stud on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure. The finish is natural stainless steel, smooth brushed.

The EJ863SS is UL 508A and CSA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 rated (UL File E65324, CSA LR21001), complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and RoHS and REACH compliant. Shipping weight is 5.25 lbs (2.38 kg), boxed. For high temperature applications a gasket retainer may be required; refer to the factory.
