The CHKO664 is a 6 x 6 x 4 in (152 x 152 x 102 mm) Type 1 mild steel junction box with a hinged door, quarter turn latch and knockouts on all four sides. It is intended for general purpose indoor commercial use as a junction, pull or switch box, with the door swinging fully open for installation and maintenance.
The body is formed and spot welded from 16 gauge steel, and the formed steel cover closes with a slotted quarter turn latch. Easily removed knockouts are provided on all 4 sides, through holes in the back allow wall mounting, and a grounding location is embossed in the body. Enclosure and cover are finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating. Hammond notes that the former butt hinge is being transitioned to a new integral hinge design starting late 2020.

The CHKO664 is UL-50 Type 1 and CSA Type 1, and complies with NEMA Type 1 and IEC 60529 IP20 (UL File E65324, CSA Cert. LR21001). It is REACH and RoHS compliant and ships in a bag. The series specification sheet lists a Type 1 Lock Kit and CS Perforated Panels as accessories.
