The CHKO864 is an 8 in high x 6 in wide x 4 in deep (203 x 152 x 102 mm) NEMA Type 1 junction box in mild steel. Its vertical format gives a 6.75 in high door opening behind a full swing hinged door with a slotted quarter turn latch, for indoor commercial junction, pull or switch box use.
The body is formed and spot welded from 16 gauge steel, and the formed steel cover closes with a slotted quarter turn latch. Easily removed knockouts are provided on all 4 sides, through holes in the back allow wall mounting, and a grounding location is embossed in the body. Enclosure and cover are finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating. Hammond notes that the former butt hinge is being transitioned to a new integral hinge design starting late 2020.
