The CHKO644 is the narrowest box in the CHKO Series: a 6 in high x 4 in wide x 4 in deep (152 x 102 x 102 mm) NEMA Type 1 mild steel junction box with a full swing hinged door and quarter turn latch. It suits general purpose indoor commercial work as a small junction, pull or switch box where wall space is tight.
The body is formed and spot welded from 16 gauge steel, and the formed steel cover closes with a slotted quarter turn latch. Easily removed knockouts are provided on all 4 sides, through holes in the back allow wall mounting, and a grounding location is embossed in the body. Enclosure and cover are finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating. Hammond notes that the former butt hinge is being transitioned to a new integral hinge design starting late 2020.

The CHKO644 is UL-50 Type 1 and CSA Type 1, and complies with NEMA Type 1 and IEC 60529 IP20 (UL File E65324, CSA Cert. LR21001). It is REACH and RoHS compliant and ships in a bag. The series specification sheet lists a Type 1 Lock Kit and CS Perforated Panels as accessories.
