Hammond 1599TABSBK Small Black ABS Tablet Enclosure, IP54 Lap Joint

The 1599TABSBK is the small, black version of the 1599TAB ergonomic tablet enclosure, a low-profile handheld case shaped to sit comfortably in the user's hands. It suits OEM engineers and product designers building instrument or mobile data devices that need a touch screen, keypad or display in a compact package.

The case is molded from flame retardant ABS plastic carrying a UL94 V-0 flammability rating. The two halves close with four M3-0.5 x 18mm cover screws that thread into factory-installed M3 brass inserts, so the unit can be opened and reassembled repeatedly. A lap joint gives protection against dust and splashing water, and this version, without a battery door, carries an IP54 rating.

Outside, the enclosure measures 4.72 x 3.74 x 1.06 in (120 x 95 x 27 mm). The drawing gives an inside length of 111.48 mm, inside width of 88.51 mm, inside height of 20.75 mm and a 2.75 mm wall. PC board standoffs are molded into both halves and accept #4 self-tapping screws; listed maximum PC board dimensions are 87.94 mm and 113.76 mm.

One removable end panel makes it easy to add connectors or switches, and the bottom half has a molded 25 x 25 mm label inlay. Each 1599TABSBK ships shrink wrapped with top and bottom covers, the removable panel and four cover screws. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, and the factory can mill, drill or print enclosures on request.
