Hammond 1599TABMGY 170 x 135 mm Medium Tablet Enclosure, Gray FR Abs

The 1599TABMGY is the medium-size 1599TAB tablet enclosure in light gray (the ordering table lists it as Grey; the part page attribute reads Black), without a battery compartment. It is a low profile, ergonomically shaped case that fits comfortably in the hands, suited to instrument and mobile data enclosures, particularly those requiring a touch screen.

Both halves are molded from flame retardant ABS with a UL94 V-0 rating. The case is closed with 6 M3-0.5 x 18 mm Phillips machine screws that thread into integral brass bushings factory inserted into the top half, so it holds up to repeated assembly and disassembly; the drawing gives a recommended cover screw torque of 43-50 ozf.in (30-35 cN-m). Lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water, and this version without a battery door is designed to meet IP54.

Outside dimensions are 6.69 in (170 mm) long, 5.31 in (135 mm) wide and 1.06 in (27 mm) deep. The top has a recessed inlay of 158.57 mm [6.24 in] by 123.57 mm [4.86 in], and the bottom half carries a molded 44 mm x 33 mm label inlay. Inside, the inner height is 20.75 mm [0.82 in] and PC board standoffs are molded into both the top and bottom halves; the maximum P.C. board size is 158.66 mm by 126.02 mm.

The assembly includes top and bottom covers, one removable end panel for connector or switch cut-outs, and the 6 cover screws. The replacement end panel is 1599TABMPLBK-B (black) or 1599TABMPLGY-B (grey). The 1599TABMGY is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink-wrapped at 0.4 lbs (0.18 kg).
