The 1590WBBBK is the black textured, water-tight version of the 1590BB diecast aluminum enclosure, supplied without mounting flanges. It is aimed at electronics builders, instrument makers and OEM teams who need a compact, rugged metal box that is designed to meet IP65.
Both box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy, a material that is tough yet easy to machine for switches, jacks and displays. The black finish is a tough polyester powder paint that keeps a lasting finish even after machining, with matching black screws included. A lap joint where lid and box meet adds protection against dust and splashing water, and the silicone gasket is supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed.
The nominal size is 4.72 x 3.70 x 1.34 in (120 x 94 x 34 mm). The drawing shows an outside length of 119.50 mm [4.705 in], width of 94.00 mm [3.701 in] and height of 34.00 mm [1.339 in]. Inside, the box offers 112.66 mm [4.435 in] of length, 87.16 mm [3.432 in] of width and 29.75 mm [1.171 in] of height, and the maximum PC board is listed at 85.16 x 110.66 mm. Side walls have a draft angle of 2 degrees or less for easy board mounting.
The purchased assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws in factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], dropping to 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket. It ships shrink wrapped at 0.51 lbs (0.23 kg) and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
