The 1590RBK is the black textured version of the 1590R diecast aluminum enclosure, the largest size in the 1590-RIBBED family. It is built for OEM engineers, instrument builders and electronics hobbyists who need a rugged, easy-to-machine metal box with internal ribs that hold a printed circuit board without extra standoffs.
Box and lid are made from die-cast aluminum alloy. The black version is painted with tough polyester powder paint for a lasting finish, even after machining, and black screws are included to match. Lap joint construction between box and lid protects against access of dust and splashing water, and the standard version is designed to meet IP54.
Nominal size is 192 x 102 x 61 mm (7.56 x 4.02 x 2.40 in), with dimensions including the 4 mm (0.16 in) lid. The drawing gives an inside length of 183.29 mm [7.216 in], inside width of 103.29 mm [4.067 in] and inside height of 56.80 mm [2.236 in]. Internal guides accept a P.C. board up to 182.42 mm by 102.42 mm, and the low side wall draft angle of 2 degrees or less makes board mounting straightforward.
The purchased assembly includes box, lid and 6 cover screws (M3.5x0.6) threaded into factory-tapped holes; recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in]. To upgrade the enclosure toward IP65, the optional 1590RGASKET silicone gasket kit is available, with lid screws torqued to 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in]. The 1590RBK is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped.
