Hammond 1590Q 120x120x34mm Natural Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Q is a square natural aluminum diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1590 Series, measuring 4.72 x 4.72 x 1.34 in (120 x 120 x 34 mm). Its low, square footprint suits OEM engineers, electronics builders and integrators who need a rugged instrument box for a square circuit board, control module or interface.

Box and lid are both made from diecast aluminum alloy, a material that is tough yet easy to machine. Lap joint construction where the lid meets the box gives protection against dust and splashing water, and this standard version is designed to meet IP54. This natural version is unpainted and vibra finished, giving a smooth surface with no sharp edges that is ready to drill, mill or paint.

Inside, the box offers 113.27 mm (4.460 in) of length, 113.77 mm (4.479 in) of width and 28.90 mm (1.138 in) of height, and the manufacturer lists a maximum P.C. board size of 112.82 x 112.82 mm. Side walls have a draft angle of 2° or less for easier PC board mounting. The lid height is 0.16 in (4 mm).

The lid fastens with four 6-32 UNC screws into factory-tapped holes, and the screws are included. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] when a gasket is fitted. There are no mounting flanges on this version; for IP65 protection choose the water-tight 1590WQ or add the 1590QGASKET silicone gasket kit. The part is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 0.62 lbs (0.28 kg).
