Hammond 1583H8D1BKX 1U 15A Rack PDU, 8 Outlets, Locking Cord

The 1583H8D1BKX is a 1U horizontal rack mount basic PDU (outlet strip) for 19-inch racks and cabinets, rated 15 A at 120 VAC. It provides eight NEMA 5-15R outlets split between two facings — two outlets on the front and six on the rear — so rack-mounted equipment can be powered from behind the unit while two convenient front outlets remain accessible for service gear, test equipment or temporary loads. It is intended for IT, AV, broadcast and OEM installations where a simple, hard-wired-to-the-plug power strip is preferred over a metered or switched PDU.

Power comes in through a heavy-duty 14 gauge, 14/3 SJT cord rated for extreme temperature ranges with an integral moulded plug. On this part number the cord is 15 ft long and terminates in a NEMA L5-15P locking (twist-lock) plug, which resists accidental disconnection in high-traffic racks. An illuminated on/off rocker switch controls the strip, and a resettable 15 Amp, 125 VAC circuit breaker guards against accidental overload.

Overall dimensions are 1.72 in (44 mm) high by 19.00 in (483 mm) wide by 2.66 in (68 mm) deep, with 0.250 in x 0.375 in mounting slots (4x) on 17.500 in (444.50 mm) centres for standard 19-inch rack rails. Shipping weight is 4.5 lbs (2.04 kg). The finish is textured black powder coat, and Hammond's finishes for this series comply with Greenguard guidelines for indoor air quality.
