Hammond 1556BPL 71x71mm Aluminum Inner Mounting Panel

The 1556BPL is an inner mounting panel for the 80 x 80 mm enclosures in the 1556 Modern General Purpose series. It gives integrators and product designers a flat plate for mounting components inside the 1556B (45 mm tall) and 1556BA (60 mm tall) enclosures in black, light gray or white.

Described as an aluminum panel in a natural aluminum colour, it measures 2.8 in x 2.8 in x 0.08 in (71 mm x 71 mm x 2 mm); the drawing shows a 71.00 mm [2.80 in] square with 2.05 mm [.08 in] thickness and 2.00 x 45.0° corner chamfers. Note that the part page material field lists ABS Plastic, while the description and colour identify the part as aluminum.

The 1556 series spec sheet explains that the multiple mounting locations inside the lid and base of the enclosure allow easy PC board mounting or can be used with Hammond aluminum panels, which are sold separately. The panel's 71 x 71 mm size matches the maximum PC board size listed for the 1556B and 1556BA enclosures.
