For compact electronics that need a thin, neutral-coloured housing, the 1551LGY is a light gray (RAL 7035) ABS miniature enclosure measuring 80 x 40 x 15 mm. Engineers use this style of box to mount small printed circuit boards or as a potting box.
The body and lid are general purpose ABS plastic with a UL94 HB flame rating, 2 mm (0.08 in) thick. They join with a lap joint, which protects against access of dust and splashing water; the enclosure is designed to meet IP54.

Standoffs molded into the box take #2 x 3/16 in self-tapping board screws (not supplied; see 1551ATS100). The lid is secured with the 2 included #4 x 1/2 in self-tapping screws, which are nickel plated as used on grey enclosures, at a recommended 35-43 ozf.in (25-30 cN.m).
The 1551LGY is RoHS and REACH compliant. The same size is also offered in black (1551LBK) and translucent blue (1551LTBU), and with a flanged lid as 1551LFLGY.
