The Hammond 1485BM3 is the longest nipple offered for 2.5 x 2.5 N12 wireway in the 1485 M Series, at a nominal 3". It suits electricians and OEM panel builders who need a slightly longer spacer between a small lay-in wireway and an enclosure or adjoining fitting.
The nipple is steel in a gray finish. Its drawing gives a 2.99 in length, a 3.88 in square flange, a 3.13 in body and a 2.36 in inside opening. Mounting holes are 0.28 in in diameter.
One flat sealing plate is included. As the series notes, lay-in nipples come with a special sealing plate which cannot be used adjacent to swivel nipples; for that situation the manufacturer points to the 1487 Series nipples.
