With four 30.5mm openings in a 10 in tall body, the 1437S16D is the largest single-column size in the 1437SS Series of extra deep stainless pushbutton enclosures. It is made in 316 stainless steel and designed to accept standard heavy duty oil tight pushbuttons, switches and pilot lights, protecting them from dirt, dust, oil and water.
Construction is formed 16 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and a natural brushed stainless finish. Captive cover screws fasten into threaded, sealed wells, and an oil resistant gasket and adhesive seal the cover. A bonding stud is provided on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure. The series describes internally hinged removable covers on its larger enclosures that hold the cover open during wiring; only the 1-hole size is footnoted as not hinged.

The series is rated UL 508A Type 4 and 4X and CSA Enclosure 4 and 4X and complies with NEMA Type 4 and 4X and IEC 60529 IP66 when appropriate components are used. The 1437S16D carries UL file E65324 and CSA certificate LR21001, is REACH and RoHS compliant, and ships in a box at 3 lbs (1.36 kg).
