The 1436O is an 11.75 x 8.50 in Type 12 mild steel junction box from the Standard Depth (1436) range of the 1436/1438 Series. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, electrical junction box or terminal wiring enclosure where a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water is needed.
The box measures 11.75 in H x 8.50 in W x 3.00 in D (298 x 216 x 76 mm). It is formed from 16 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. Welded mounting brackets bring overall height to 12.75 in, with Ø0.25 in mounting holes on 12.25 in vertical and 7.63 in horizontal centres, and overall depth with cover is 3.16 in.
Its 12.12 x 8.87 in cover lifts off but is supported on internal hinges, and it is secured with captive, plated steel screws that fasten into threaded, sealed wells over a permanently secured oil resistant gasket. The door opening measures 11.25 in high by 8.00 in wide. A bonding stud is provided on the cover and a grounding stud on the enclosure.
The 1436O is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in ANSI 61 gray recoatable powder coating. Shipping weight is 8 lbs (3.63 kg), in a box.
