The 1436S is a near-square 11.75 x 10.75 in Type 12 mild steel junction box in the Standard Depth (1436) range of the 1436/1438 Series. It suits instrument enclosures, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures where equipment needs a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.
Dimensions are 11.75 in H x 10.75 in W x 3.00 in D (298 x 273 x 76 mm). The box is formed from 16 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. Welded mounting brackets bring the overall height to 12.75 in and carry Ø0.25 in holes spaced 12.25 in vertically and 9.88 in horizontally. Overall depth with the cover is 3.16 in.
The 12.12 x 11.12 in cover is a lift-off design supported on internal hinges. Captive, plated steel screws fasten it into threaded, sealed wells, and a permanently secured oil resistant gasket seals the joint. The door opening is 11.25 in high and 10.25 in wide. A bonding stud on the cover and grounding stud on the enclosure are provided.
The 1436S is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54. The phosphatized cover and enclosure are finished in recoatable ANSI 61 gray powder coating. It ships in a box at 9 lbs (4.08 kg).
