Hammond 1431-8 6 x 4 in Grey Steel Chassis Bottom Plate

The 1431-8 is a 6 in x 4 in steel bottom plate for Hammond's 1441 series steel chassis. It closes the underside of the 1441-8 grey chassis and is also listed for the 1441-8BK3 satin black chassis, serving builders of classic, vintage-style and tube equipment, hobbyists and OEM engineers who want an enclosed base on their chassis.

Made of 0.036" steel, the plate carries an ASA 61 smooth grey finish. The series specification states that optional bottom plates are punched with 4 holes of 3/16" diameter, while the chassis now includes 1/8" holes to allow installation of the optional plate. Screws are not supplied with the plate; the drawing specifies 1421J6 natural finish cover screws or 1421J6BK black cover screws, each a package of 6 x 6-32 x 1/4" self-tapping screws.

Listed dimensions are 6 in x 4 in x 0.04 in (152 mm x 102 mm x 1 mm). On the drawing the plate measures 152.40 mm [6.00 in] by 101.60 mm [4.00 in], with a thickness of 0.91 mm [.036 in]. The 1441-8 chassis it fits is 20 gauge, 6.00 in (152 mm) wide, 4.00 in (102 mm) deep and 2.00 in (51 mm) high; assembled, the inner box is 150.57 mm [5.93 in] long, 99.77 mm [3.93 in] wide and 48.97 mm [1.93 in] high.

The 1431-8 ships in a bag with a shipping weight of 0.25 lbs (0.11 kg). It is RoHS and REACH compliant. All components, including chassis, plate, screws and rubber feet, are sold separately.
