Hammond 1431-8BK3 6 x 4 in Satin Black Steel Chassis Bottom Plate

The 1431-8BK3 is a satin black steel bottom plate that closes the base of Hammond's 6 in x 4 in 1441 series chassis. It is listed for the 1441-8BK3 satin black chassis and the 1441-8 grey chassis, and suits builders of classic, vintage-style and tube equipment, hobbyists and OEM designers who want a dark, finished underside.

The plate is 0.036" steel with a satin black finish. Per the series specification, optional bottom plates are punched with 4 holes 3/16" in diameter, and the chassis now includes 1/8" holes so the plate can be installed. Screws are ordered separately: the drawing lists 1421J6BK black cover screws and 1421J6 natural finish cover screws, both packages of 6 x 6-32 x 1/4" self-tapping screws.

Hammond lists the size as 6 in x 4 in x 0.04 in (152 mm x 102 mm x 1 mm). The drawing dimensions the plate at 152.40 mm [6.00 in] x 101.60 mm [4.00 in], 0.91 mm [.036 in] thick. The matching chassis is 20 gauge and measures 6.00 in (152 mm) wide, 4.00 in (102 mm) deep and 2.00 in (51 mm) high, with an assembled inner box of 150.57 mm [5.93 in] x 99.77 mm [3.93 in] x 48.97 mm [1.93 in].
