The 1426Y is a 12 x 6 x 5.5 in (305 x 152 x 140 mm) beige metal instrument enclosure. It trades depth for height: at 5.5 in tall and 6 in deep it gives a taller front panel for meters, displays and controls than the 4 in high 1426 sizes. It is aimed at electronics designers, OEM engineers and hobbyists building desktop equipment.
The top and bottom are 20 gauge steel for strength, powder coated beige. The front and rear panels are 0.064 in thick aluminum that is easy to machine for switches, connectors and displays. The front panel is satin black and the rear panel matches the beige case colour. The rear panel and the bottom of the enclosure are vented.
The 1426Y is 12 in wide, 6 in deep and 5.5 in high, with a shipping weight of 3.6 lbs (1.63 kg). The material is listed as steel with aluminum end panels, and the 1426Y is supplied in shrink wrap packaging.
