Hammond RM2U1908SBK 2U 8" Deep Solid 19" Rack Mount Aluminum Enclosure

The RM2U1908SBK is a 2U rack-mount and desktop instrument enclosure from the RM Series with a solid top and bottom. At 16.6 in wide it is a full-width chassis that includes a pair of 19" rack mounting ears, so electronics builders, OEM engineers and integrators can put a project straight into a standard 19" rack or leave it on a bench. Choose the RM2U1908VBK if you need the vented version of the same size.

Construction is all aluminum: extruded side panels and front/rear panels 0.125" (3.2 mm) thick, a Type 6063 extruded aluminum frame, and flat 0.064" (1.6 mm) top and bottom panels in 5052-H32 aluminum, finished in rugged textured black powder coat. The knockdown design ships unassembled for easy handling and shipping protection. Note that the panels are not grounded to the frame because of the powder coat; the grounding method is determined by the customer.

Overall dimensions are 3.50 in (89 mm) high, 16.60 in (422 mm) wide and 8.00 in (203 mm) deep (2U). The drawing shows 482.61 mm [19.000 in] across the mounting ears and a body width of 421.65 mm [16.600 in]. The front and rear panels measure 415.30 mm [16.350 in] wide by 88.13 mm [3.470 in] high, a useful figure when laying out connectors, displays and switches. Shipping weight is 5.41 lbs (2.45 kg).

Each assembly includes interchangeable front/rear, top/bottom and side panels plus hardware: 2 mounting brackets - .125" aluminum, 12 screws - flat head 4-40 x 3/8", 8 screws - counter sunk head 6-32 x 3/8", 4 screws - counter sunk head 10-32 x 3/8", 12 nuts - #4 speed nuts, four self adhesive rubber feet - 1421t3. It accepts pull handle 1427E1BK. The enclosure is RoHS and REACH compliant and manufactured in North America; solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
