Hammond PJHMI2016H 20x16 Opaque HMI Cover Kit, Hinged Screw Closure

The PJHMI2016H is the 20 x 16 opaque screw-cover version of the PJHMI Series polycarbonate HMI hinged cover kit. It mounts over an opening in an enclosure wall to protect instruments or electronics that need routine attention, such as an operator panel that is accessed for adjustment but should stay covered the rest of the time. The light gray solid opaque cover keeps the device out of sight when closed.

The box and the standard cover are both injected polycarbonate. The cover swings on a 316 stainless steel hinge pin and closes against a Formed-In-Place (FIP) polyurethane gasket seated in a continuous channel. On this screw-cover model the cover is held by two #10-32 brass inserts with 316 stainless steel captive cover screws that carry a retaining O-ring, so the screws stay with the cover when it is opened. The kit is UV stabilized for outdoor use and rated for service from -31°F (-35°C) to 266°F (130°C).

The frame measures 19.85 in (504 mm) high, 16.07 in (408 mm) wide and 2.27 in (58 mm) deep, against a nominal size of 20 x 16 x 2 in. The viewing area and maximum panel cutout are 18.49 x 14.71 in, and the drawing notes it will fit Allied Moulded enclosure sizes 24 x 24 and larger. Shipping weight is 10 lbs (4.54 kg).

Installation uses 18 fasteners from two hardware kits: mark and drill 7/32 or #2 (.220 dia) holes, cut the opening, clean the surface and gasket, then mount and torque the hardware to 15 - 20 in-lbs. The hardware suits mounting surfaces from .059" to .250" thick, and the series is designed for walls from 16 gauge through 1/4".

The PJHMI2016H is a listed UL component (File E487574) for enclosures rated Types 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13, and CSA listed for the same types. It is RoHS and REACH compliant. The clear-cover equivalent is PJHMI2016CCH, and the matching optional prop arm is PJHMIPROP2016.
